Part 6: 7 Life Changing Quotes from Dario Salas Sommer

We’ve reached quote #6. It is about life and death. Read below and you will see what we mean…

If you find that this quote speaks to you, be sure to let us know.

Enjoy!

“Nothing Dies;
Everything passes to another state of Existence.
Can a word die after having been uttered?
Can a thought die?”

Dario Salas Sommer

If you are like most people, death is something you spend as little time possible thinking about.

We fear death, and want nothing to do with it. Yet death is everywhere, it is an indelible part of life.

Life and death feed and define each other.
Think about this for a moment: would life be as precious if death didn’t exist?

We seem to unconsciously resist the concept of death, some deep part of us ignores it. We might see others pass away: those people we love, work with, public figures… We attend their funerals, mourn them and miss them.

But in our minds we somehow manage to hide ourselves from the clear knowledge that we ourselves are one day going to transcend this world.

Carlos Castaneda, in his books, hints that the awareness of death can be of great use to produce clarity and sobriety:

“Death is the only wise advisor that we have. Whenever you feel, as you always do, that everything is going wrong and you’re about to be annihilated, turn to your death and ask if that is so. Your death will tell you that you’re wrong; that nothing really matters outside its touch. Your death will tell you, ‘I haven’t touched you yet.” Carlos Castaneda

The idea is that true awareness of our life is awareness of our death, in the same way that you can’t truly see a painting without being aware of its frame. When we put our attention on it, death reminds us of what is most valuable and important in life.

And consciousness, Dario Salas Sommer reminds us, is the most important thing we can accomplish in life.

We fear death because we identify with our physical bodies, and our social identities.
You think you are this body, you think you are Mr or Mrs so and so. Deep inner work is about learning to recognize ourselves as energy, as consciousness.

“To one who has not taken the time to cultivate himself spiritually and morally, death is a constant threat and appears as something horrible in his eyes. This is not the case for someone who has reached a higher state of consciousness, because death for him is a new life, and he is absolutely unafraid.” Dario Salas Sommer

Could it be that the awareness of our death can help you to achieve a higher state of consciousness?

And that having a higher state of consciousness gives you a different perspective of what death is?

Let us know what you think.

  1. Antonio Marchiori says:

Sure easy to say it difficult to live it it’s only when you’re extremely sick that you want to die otherwise life is happiness a lot of energy makes you feel like you want to live so isn’t energy and high energy an antidote to death and therefore no longer wanting it it’s only when you feel sick and alone and desperate that you wished that you were dead if you’re surrounded by a a ton of energy in your body than death does not even into your mind so focusing on dev seems to be the people who have lower energy and don’t have a choice because the energy is so low
People only think of death when they are sick and have no energy otherwise I don’t think they really would like to experience it
To focus on death does put things into perspective but it does only happen when you feel miserable and when you have a low energy otherwise you wouldn’t even worry about it
Why old people with lots of with no energy always thinking about death but it’s not a natural way of being in life it’s a default and it should be eliminated
